Plant Features
Amethyst Centaurea Plants feature pure white, star-burst, cornflower blossoms with deep amethyst-colored centers and grayish-green foliage with tiny, silvery hairs that make the leaves appear touch-ably soft. This easy-to-grow perennial is a real attention-grabber! Best when used massed in borders, cottage gardens or naturalized areas. Mountain bluet grows in sunny locations with moist, well-drained soils. They do tolerate drought conditions once they are established. Butterflies, bees and other insets enjoy the pollen and nectar while deer tend to stay away. A second late season bloom is possible if the plant is cut back to the ground after the first flush of flowers is over. Centaurea plants should be divided every 3-5 years.
