Black Scallop Ajuga is a slow spreading ground cover that features glossy, maroon-purple foliage with medium-blue flowering spikes that appear each spring. This easy to grow plant is a heat lover that also tolerates being grown around black walnut trees. The more sun it receives the darker the foliage. Black Scallop can be grow in shade, part sun and full sun locations and are tolerant of dry to moisture-retaining soils. Ajuga attracts hummingbirds, butterflies and bees; deer and rabbits tend to avoid it.
