Cambridge Dinnerplate Dahlia offers as it's name suggests, and huge flower that can get to be as big as 10 inches in diameter. With a yellow and red splashed eye, this dahlia is a ball of sunshine! The petals are yellow that have stripes of red littered throughout and are arranged like rays of sunshine beading outwards. Cambridge ships as a bare root. We like growing from bare roots because they establish quickly, become twice the size of a potted plant in the first season, and eliminate the need for plastic pots (a win for the environment).
Dahlia Companion Plants: Geranium, Salvia
Cambridge Dahlia Plant Care Instructions: Plants should only be watered if there is no rain for a week or if the plant starts wilting. If you want more blooms, snip off the top leaf stem once there are at least 3-4 sets of sets of leaves growing. In the fall, after frost has turned the foliage brown, the tubers should be dug back up and stored for the winter.
