First Frost Hosta produces attractive mounds of heart-shaped, bluish-green leaves with stunning margins that brighten as the season progresses. Lavender flowers bloom midsummer. This sport of Halcyon was chosen as the 2010 Hosta of the Year by the American Hosta Growers Association. Prized for its gorgeous leaf margins that emerge gold in spring and fade to creamy-white in summer. Plantain lilies thrive when grown in moist soils with between 2-5 hours of sun. Plants should be divided every 3-5 years; its best to do so in the fall right before the first frost. Hummingbirds and bees are attracted to it flowers.
