Considered by many to be the best white-margined variety, Francee Hosta offers the classic dark-green heart-shaped leaves with white edges. It is extremely sun tolerant. Lavender flowers bloom in mid to late summer. Plantain lilies thrive when grown in moist soils with between 2-5 hours of sun. Hummingbirds and bees are attracted to it flowers. Francee ships as a bare root. We like growing from bare roots because they establish quickly, become twice the size of a potted plant in the first season, and eliminate the need for plastic pots (a win for the environment).

Francee Hosta Plant Care Instructions: Soil should be kept moist during the early part of the season. Once the summer heat sets in, the soil can dry slightly between waterings. In late fall, after frost has turned the foliage brown, it should be cut back to the ground. Roots should be divided every 3-5 years. Early fall or early spring is an excellent time to divide. Spring is also the best time to apply one application of liquid fertilizer.
