Jersey Giant Asparagus Crowns produce tender, flavorful spears with a higher tolerance of colder climates and they mature 7 to 10 days earlier than other varieties. Known to be the highest yielding plants, they are extremely adaptable. This mostly all-male variety will outperform many other varieties, produces very few berries, and has excellent disease resistance. Ready for some fresh asparagus? Many of our 2-3 year old sized crowns will produce harvestable spears the same year you plant them! Jersey Giant Asparagus Plant Care Instructions: Spears can be harvested once they are as thick as a pencil. Stop harvesting as the spears become tough and the tops start opening. Leave them grow and fern out for the rest of the year. They can be cut back to the ground after the first hard frost, or it can be done in early spring before the new growth starts.

Comment: Just planted 40 of these Jersey Giant beauties last week and seeing some sprouts already. Roots and nodes looked very healthy upon delivery. Will have to wait a couple of years before we can start harvesting, but I think they will be worth the wait.

Comment: Very happy with packaging and delivery. Just wished the asparagus came in smaller portions - 2 crowns may be a bit much for my small garden, and I am not sure what to to do with the extras without giving them away. I guess it's time to search the internet.
