Plant Features

Kilian Donahue is an early blooming clematis, first displaying a ruby-red center that fades out to a radiant fuchsia midrib with the surrounding petal being orchid-purple. This Clematis variety produces 4 to 5 inch blooms on both old and new growth at the same time and due to the slightly varied color differences, often appears as if two different species are growing at once, and intertwined. It is a fantastic re-bloomer! Kilian Donahue requires no pruning. Clematis require moist soils to grow well. In northern gardens the do best in full sun but prefer lightly shaded areas in southern gardens. Deer seldom bother clematis.
