Our Nikko Blue Hydrangea Plant is considered one of the most consistently blue-colored hydrangeas; Nikko will change color with the pH of your soil, as do most, though the color-change will not be quite as dramatic as some. Maintaining its blue coloration in a variety of soils, more neutral or alkaline conditions will result in a purplish-blue coloration, while acidic soils will result in brilliantly sky-blue mophead blossoms. Sunlight will not change the color, which makes these ideal for brightening up shaded areas; in coastal areas, these moderately salt-tolerant shrubs just need a little protection from direct salt spray. They dry beautifully as well!
