Oranges and Lemons Gaillardia Plant is perfectly named; the color being suggestive of those juicy citrus fruits. Somewhat unusual coloring for a Blanket Flower, what would normally be red is peachy-orange colored, while the tips are a goldenrod yellow. Known to attract butterflies, the central cone is also orange or yellow, depending upon the age of the flower, but turns brilliant chartreuse as this Blanket Flower goes to seed. The cool blue-green foliage seems to be the perfect backdrop for this warm color and this heat resistant variety has an improved upright growth habit, as opposed to a somewhat sprawling habit in many varieties. Its also nicely salt tolerant for our coastal growers.
Companion Planting: Echinacea, Leucanthemum, Rudbeckia
