Pina Colada Tall Phlox Plant is another in the Top Shelf series from Darwin Perennials and breeder Jan Verschoor. Showing off its coconut-white flower clusters atop dark, olivey-green foliage; the white blossoms appear amazingly solid, unlike many white flowers. As the blossoms fade, pinch the old to make room for the new, and you will be rewarded with oodles of fragrant clouds throughout the entire season, which will attract loads of butterflies! You would almost expect these to smell and taste like coconut; garden perennial phlox (not creeping phlox) are edible, though the flavor will be slightly spicy, not at all like a pina colada, and is most commonly used as a plate garnish or in fruit salads.
Companion Planting: Aster, Echinacea, Eupatorium, Fuchsia, Geranium, Salvia
