Our Snow Queen Hydrangea Plant is an Oakleaf hydrangea, this type of hydrangea tending to bloom best in hot summers and to be winter-hardy further north than mophead hydrangeas. The blooms are noticeably different, having an elongated, spire-shape, as opposed to the round shape on the more common mophead varieties. As the name indicates, this hydrangea blooms white and stays that way, regardless of your soil pH; these blossoms are also held on rigid stems, not susceptible to the after-rain-droops. Snow Queen blooms on old wood. This upright, mounded shrub performs best when pruned right after its blossoms fade for the season.
