Plant Features

Syriaca Milkweed Plants offer lovely, pink hued flowers that provide double duty: it feeds our friends the Monarch butterflies and their larvae, and it kills off invasive lantern flies. It also attracts bees, hummingbirds and other pollinators will providing fiber for wild birds to build their nests. It is the host plant for the Monarch butterfly. Mother nature at her finest! Asclepias Syriaca is the most common perennial milkweed variety and grows in just about any soil condition, sandy, clay, rock, wet or dry.

Syriaca Asclepias Plant Care Instructions: Keep the plant well-watered for the first 3-4 weeks after transplanting. After that, only water if the plant starts looking droopy. Deadheading the first flush of flowers promotes additional blooms. If you don’t want the plant to self-seed, remove all flowers once they are finished blooming. Plants can be cut back to the ground once they drop their leaves. Spring is a good time to fertilize.
