The Yew (Taxus baccata), is an evergreen shrub with dark green, needle-like leaves that arrange themselves spirally along the stem. However, they twist at their bases to lie in two flat rows on either side of the stem. Unlike most conifers, the yew doesn't bear a traditional cone.
