Ben Franklin Peony Plant

The Ben Franklin is a tall, free-flowering peony with crimson colored doubled blooms. Blooms held high above the compact foliage on wiry stems. Also known for its disease resistance, making it an excellent choice for both gardeners and flower arrangers alike. Ben Franklin ships as a bare root. We like growing from bare roots because they establish quickly, become twice the size of a potted plant in the first season, and eliminate the need for plastic pots (a win for the environment).

Ben Franklin Peony Plant Care: These beauties thrive on neglect; however, there are some things you should consider. Only water if the foliage starts to wilt. Do not apply mulch. Fertilize when its first transplanted and then every 3 years. Use hoops to support the heavy blooms. When taking cut flowers or deadheading, leave at least 3 leaf stems under the cut. Ants and peonies go hand it hand, so do not be alarmed when you see them on the plants. Stalks can be cut back to the grown in early winter or in early spring before the new stalks appear
