Plant Features

Dr. Ruppel Clematis, renowned for its prolonged blooming seasons, is a true garden gem. The enchanting light purple bicolor flowers, accentuated by a mesmerizing carmine center bar and delicate ruffled edges, make their first grand appearance in late spring and summer, only to encore with equal splendor in the fall.

This clematis variety showcases its versatility by gracefully ascending arbors and fences, intertwining among tall shrubs, or even spreading as a vibrant groundcover to elevate patios. Its compact nature combined with its abundant flowering makes it a fit for expansive gardens as well as confined container spaces.

Plant Care: Plants do best with a climbing support and with a few inches of mulch to keep their roots cool. Flowers are produced on old and new growth, so plants should not be pruned by more than one third. Pruning can be done in late winter or early spring.

Clematis Companion Plants: Dahlia, Phlox, Salvia

Arrived in good shape

This plant arrived in good shape and appeared healthy. My local chain store comparison it was quite expensive BUT I wanted to get it started in the early fall with hopes for a good growth in the spring. Thus I had to make a mail order purchase. We shall see if my plan works.
