Plant Features

The Clematis Duchess of Albany brings lovely, tulip-shaped flowers in beguiling shades of pink striped with a darker pink set against a pleasing backdrop of light green foliage. This rambling vine is perfect for twining in and around your perennial garden, and compact enough to stay put on a trellis or arch. These clematis are fairly heat and drought tolerant. First introduced in 1890, grow this one and you'll see why it's still going strong! In northern gardens, it will do best in full sun but prefer lightly shaded areas in southern gardens.

Plant Care: Plants do best with a climbing support and with a few inches of mulch to keep their roots cool. Flowers are produced on new growth, so plants should not be pruned back to 16 inches from the ground in late winter.

Clematis Companion Plants: Dahlia, Phlox, Salvia
