Plant Features

Earlybird™ Red White Aquilegia Plants produce bunches of lovely red and white, upwards facing blooms that sit atop its neat, compact foliage. They grow well in borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and at woodland edges. They are also excellent in containers and as cut flowers. The nectar filled flowers of the columbine attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds while deer and rabbits tend to avoid them.

Common Names: Granny's Bonnet, Columbine, European Crowfoot

Aquilegia Companion Plants: Digitalis, Euphorbia, Geranium, Hemerocallis, Hosta

Earlybird Red and White Aquilegia Plant Care Instructions: Plants do best with consistently moist soils. After the spring flowering is completed, cut the flower stems back for a possible rebloom. Division of the roots can be done every three years in early spring for hybrid varieties. Open-pollinated types will self-seed so dividing the plant will not be necessary.
