Plant Features

Clematis 'Jackmanii' is a distinguished hybrid adorned with expansive 5-7-inch wide, violet-purple flowers. It showcases its vibrant blooms predominantly in mid to late summer. Each flower typically boasts four sepals, though on occasion, one might spot blooms with five or six sepals. Since its introduction in England during the mid-1800s, 'Jackmanii' has remained a garden favorite, celebrated not just for its initial burst of summer blossoms but also for the sporadic blooms it produces until the onset of frost, ensuring a prolonged period of visual delight.

Plant Care: Plants do best with a climbing support and with a few inches of mulch to keep their roots cool. Flowers are produced on new growth only, so plants should be pruned back by 12-16-inches after each round of flowers are done. If desired, the entire plant can be prunned back to 15 inches above the ground in late winter.

Clematis Companion Plants: Dahlia, Phlox, Salvia
