Hardy Hibiscus plants thrive in full sun locations with moist-wet, nutrient rich soil. Stems should be cut back in late winter. They are late to break ground in the spring.

Our Hardy Hibiscus Plants are carefully grown without harmful pesticides, ensuring they are a safe and vibrant addition to your garden. Guaranteed to arrive healthy and ready to thrive!

Planting Instructions:

  • - Best planted in spring or early summer for optimal root development
  • - Space plants 3-4 feet apart to allow for mature growth and proper air circulation

Soil Preparation:

  • - Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5
  • - Prefers moist, well-drained soil; thrives in rich, organic soil but tolerates average conditions

Watering Specifics:

  • - Water deeply and regularly, especially during dry periods, to keep the soil consistently moist
  • - Mulch around the base of the plant to retain moisture and maintain even soil temperature

Fertilizer Type:

  • - Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to encourage vigorous growth and flowering
  • - Feed again in mid-summer to support continuous blooming

Pruning and Training:

  • - Prune in late winter or early spring to remove dead or damaged stems
  • - Cut back to the ground in late fall after the plant has gone dormant to encourage fresh growth next spring

Additional Pest Management:

  • - Hardy Hibiscus is generally pest-resistant but may attract aphids or Japanese beetles; monitor and treat if necessary
  • - Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases

Blooming Indicators:

  • - Blooms from mid-summer to early fall with large, showy flowers in shades of red, pink, white, or purple

Temperature Tolerance:

  • - Hardy in USDA zones 4-9, tolerates both heat and cold, but may need protection in colder regions

Hardy Hibiscus - Rose Mallow

Both my husband and I are amazed! This arrived in perfect condition. However, it was only a stalk with leaves. I planted it immediately. I really didn't expect it to do anything this season. Shortly afterward, I began noticing small blooms. In fact, eight blooms on this stalk with leaves. Well today, one of them opened and it is huge and beautiful! Since the plant itself is only about 15 high it looks a little off balance with this giant 6 bloom. We love it! can't wait to see it continue to thrive.

Rose Mallow

Anxiously awaiting the blooming of this beauty. Ordered 4 plants and they all arrived within 2 days of shipping and in great condition. 2 days after planting, I could see growth! I took and chance and now I would definitely order from GrowJoy again.

Luna Rose Hardy Hibiscus

I bought 9 of these in May. Six of them thrived and have bloomed (gorgeous) all summer despite not getting very tall (about 12 inches). Three of them died, not sure why since they were all planted in a row and got exactly the same amounts of water and fertilizer, but we did have some 110 degree weeks so I'm thinking these 3 did not quite get their roots established well enough to withstand extreme conditions. I ordered 3 replacements and planted them the last week of August, so hopefully they will survive. I expect all of them to be taller next summer. The blooms are hot neon pink and very showy, and there are a lot of them.
