Fertilize when its first transplanted and then every 3 years. Use hoops to support the heavy blooms. When taking cut flowers or deadheading, leave at least 3 leaf stems under the cut. Ants and peonies go hand it hand, so do not be alarmed when you see them on the plants. Stalks can be cut back to the grown in early winter or in early spring before the new stalks appear
