Plant Features

Clematis Ernest Markham produces large, 4-6-inch magenta colored flowers in mid-summer. This climbing beauty is an award-winning variety that will put on a summertime show in your garden or container. Profuse bloomer! Clematis require moist soils to grow well. In northern gardens the do best in full sun but prefer lightly shaded areas in southern gardens.

Plant Care: Plants do best with a climbing support and with a few inches of mulch to keep their roots cool. Flowers are produced on new growth, so plants should not be pruned back to 16 inches in late winter or early spring.

Clematis Companion Plants: Dahlia, Phlox, Salvia
