Multiple, long, white stamens gracefully fall from the center of each blossom. The resemble butterflies in flight. Trimming the spent flower heads in mid-summer will ensure a longer bloom period. Gaura plants tolerate urban pollution, heat and humidity, and a wide range of soils, from well-drained, fertile ones to dry and acidic. The do not however like heavy, wet soil.
