Woodson Asclepias Plants sport frilly looking umbels of bright, flirty pinky-red accented with tiny white starlets. The foliage is vividly green and often tinged with lavender. Does not have a long tap-root like most varieties. Woodson milkweed attracts butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and many other pollinators, as well as wild birds who use fiber from the plant to create their nests. It is the host plant for the Monarch butterfly. Swamp milkweed prefers moist to wet soil but does tolerate drier soil conditions as well.

Common Names: Swamp Milkweed, Woodson Milkweed, Woodson Swamp Milkweed, Asclepias Incarnata

Asclepias Companion Plants: Aster, Echinacea, Kniphofia, Salvia

Woodson Asclepias Plant Care Instructions: Keep the plant well-watered for the first 3-4 weeks after transplanting. After that, only water if the plant starts looking droopy. Deadheading the first flush of flowers promotes additional blooms. If you don’t want the plant to self-seed, remove all flowers once they are finished blooming. Plants can be cut back to the ground once they drop their leaves. Spring is a good time to fertilize.

Your site, plants, employees are the best! My go to, for sure, hands down. I raise monarchs so it is very important to have pesticide/ chemical free. You have delivered! From ordering to delivery is unbelievably fast (which is important when one has hungry cats).

Woodson Asclepias

The Woodson Asclepias ended up being back ordered. Customer service was excellent and prompt, offering me a refund or equal reward points. I have been very happy with the plants I did receive, all in excellent shape and growing nicely. I will continue to dream of my future gardens with GrowJoy. I certainly wish, though, GrowJoy had a wish list that could be saved ~ that would be almost as terrific as their plants! Thanks, GrowJoy, for a great shopping experience!

for the butterflies

This Woodson Swamp was very healthy and started right off the get go to increase in the garden pot. I bought three different ones but this is going to be the hardy one. Thanks to the great condition of this plant as I will have no problem getting it to establish.
